Right now, and for the past roughly 6 months, I would consider my favorite singer/songwriter to be Taylor Swift. I love absolutely every one of her songs and she is an incredible role model. She is proof that hard work, dedication and a strong love and passion for something is all you need for success. Taylor Swift rose to the top herself, getting her start on MySpace. I think it is crazy how much she has accomplished and she is only 19 – my age.
I also think we have a lot in common. She writes all of her songs herself, and they are based on her past experiences. I heard her say once that if she is struggling with something, it helps if she writes about it. I myself keep a diary, and I find too that writing something down that is bothering me will help me clear my head. Granted, I could never produce a song out of my diary entries or personal experiences, but I think it is neat how we both are driven to write our problems down.
Based on the majority of her songs, I think Taylor Swift and I have a pretty similar life when it comes to boy problems and/or experiences. It is unbelievable how much I can relate to some of her songs, right down to every single word and emotion. I always think, “I’ve totally been there!” And when the moment arises, nothing feels more liberating than to blast and sing aloud a Taylor Swift song.
Last summer I had the opportunity to go to one of her concerts. It was amazing. My boyfriend and I had awesome seats too so we got a great show and close pictures. Hopefully I can see her in concert again sometime in the future.
